Giac Tran
Title: Assistant Coach
Year: Fourth Season
College: UMBC '98

Giac Tran will enter his fourth season with the Seahawk tennis programs in 2009-10.

A formerly ranked Maryland top 10 junior player, Tran graduated from Chopticon HS in Morganza in 1994 as the No. 1 singles player.  He achieved All-Southern Maryland Athletic Conference First Team, All-St. Mary's County, and Washington Post All-Metro honorable mention honors during the 1993-94 season.  Tran was also awarded the Louis Benson Memorial Tennis Award.

He continued at High Point University in N.C. but graduated from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County in 1998 where he finished his collegiate career.  While at High Point, Tran competed in both singles and doubles at a time when HPU was ranked 10th in Division II.

He served as an assistant coach at Chopticon for three years before becoming an assistant at Patuxent during the 2005-06 year.

Tran is currently a tennis pro, running local programs for the Breton Bay Country Club, Calvert County/St. Mary's County Parks & Recreation, and the Calvert County Tennis Association where he has served as the vice president and delegate to the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

He continues to compete in USTA events and is the holder of 30 championship titles in both singles and doubles.
