Heyde Nabs CAC Swimmer of the Week Honors

York, Pa. - Kelly Heyde (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) of the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swim team earned Capital Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week honors for the week ending November 1 as announced by league commissioner, Tom Byrnes, Tuesday afternoon.
Heyde registered five individual first-place finishes, including a school-record and NCAA "B" cut performance in the Seahawks' opening week of the season. St. Mary's (2-0, 1-0 CAC) posted a 137-68 victory at Catholic University and a 114-91 triumph over Marymount (Va.) University.
The 5-2 freshman opened the week with wins in the 200 individual medley (2:13.24), the 500 freestyle (5:22.19) and the 1000 freestyle (10:53.97) as SMCM topped Catholic.
In Saturday's win over Marymount, Heyde broke a school record and posted a provisional national qualifying time in the 200 butterfly (2:07.71), knocking off Rachel Hotchko's old mark of 2:09.65 set at last year's CAC championships. She added a win in the 200 freestyle (2:00.64) and swam the first leg of the victorious 400 medley relay.
After a stellar collegiate debut, Heyde owns three top times within the conference - 200 fly, 200 IM, and 1000 free. She also posted the second-best 500 free and third-best 200 free times.
