Arlington, Va. - Freshman Kelly Heyde (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) continues to make waves for the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's swim team as Heyde notched three gold medals for the second consecutive meet and set a school record in the process, leading the Seahawks (2-0, 1-0 CAC) to a 114-91 victory over Marymount (Va.) University (0-2, 0-2 CAC) in the Capital Athletic Conference opener for SMCM.

Heyde set the school record for the 200 fly with her time of 2:07.71, leading a 1-2-3 finish for the Seahawks in the event.  She displaced the old mark of 2:09.65 established by senior Rachel Hotchko (Yakima, Wash./A.C. Davis) at the 2009 CAC championships.  Along with being a school record, Heyde's time was also an NCAA ‘B' cut.

Heyde nabbed a first-place finish in the 200 free as well in 2:00.64.  Following Heyde in the 200 fly was senior captain Anna Chiplis (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) in second at 2:24.15 and sophomore Katie Serfling (Frederick, Md./Urbana) in third at 2:28.74.  Heyde also swam the lead leg of the winning 400 medley relay.

Joining Heyde on the first-place 400 medley relay were junior captain Sofia Sokolove (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase), Hotchko, and freshman Melanie Bloch (Bethesda, Md./French International).

Hotchko touched the wall first in the 100 free in 55.90 while Bloch took first in the 50 free in 26.04.  Freshman Maddie Casey (Rockville, Md./T.S. Wootton) captured the 500 free in 5:35.19 while finishing second in the 200 free in 2:06.49.

Sophomore Katelyn Grue (Ellicott City, Md./Mount de Sales) and senior captain Monika Disque (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) came in second and third, respectively, in the 500 free.  Grue swam an 11:41.91 followed by Disque in 11:49.26.

Disque picked up a second-place finish in the 200 back in 2:23.55 followed by freshman Joanna Purich (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) at third in 2:25.12.  Sokolove claimed a second-place finish in the 200 breast in 2:37.95.

The foursome of Disque, Serfling, sophomore Christine DiMenna (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep), and Casey took second in the 400 free relay.

The Seahawks will be back in the pool next Friday, November 6 as St. Mary's hosts Randolph-Macon College in its home-opener at 4:00 pm.
