St. Mary's Volleyball Takes One on Final Day of WLU Invitational

Lexington, Va. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team once again split their two matches at the Washington and Lee University Invitational Saturday afternoon as the tournament wrapped up. The Seahawks swept Centre College (25-19, 25-18, 25-19) and then dropped a 3-0 decision to host Washington and Lee (25-18, 25-20, 25-13).

St. Mary's (Md.) 3, Centre 0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-19)

How It Happened

  • St. Mary's notched its second 3-0 win of the season by hitting a season-best .275 for the match.
  • Senior setter Mimi Graf (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) dished out a career-high 41 assists for the second straight match while adding 15 digs for her eighth double-double of 2016.
  • Senior Meghan Griffiths (La Plata, Md./La Plata) contributed to the win with a career-best nine kills.

For The Seahawks (6-2)

How It Happened

  • St. Mary's attacked below .100 for the first time this season as the Seahawks fell in three for the first time in 2016.

For The Seahawks (6-3)

  • M. Graf (19 assists, 10 digs); A. Graf (11 digs, 7 kills); Dangler (13 digs); Kelley (8 kills).
  • St. Mary's finished the match with a .057 attack percentage, three team blocks, and two aces.

For Washington and Lee (7-1)

  • Meg Guignon (12 kills, 6 digs, 3 assists, 2 block assists); Elena West (31 assists, 7 digs, 2 kills); Mackenzie Shand (12 kills, 3 block assists, 2 solo blocks); Katie Volk (17 digs, 3 service aces).
  • The Generals hit .240 for the match with six service aces and six team blocks.


  • Washington and Lee won its own invitational with the win over St. Mary's.
  • M. Graf is three steps closer to her 50th career double-double following two more double-doubles on Saturday.
  • A. Graf and M. Graf were both named to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts this weekend in leading the Seahawks to a 2-2 record.
