St. Mary's Volleyball Downs Mount Saint Vincent

New York, N.Y. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland volleyball team opened up action at the Baruch College Invite Friday evening with a 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-17) win over the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins. This evening's match was played at New York University.

How It Happened

  • Senior outside hitter Alli Graf (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) finished the match with her seventh double-double of the season as Graf tallied 11 kills and career-best 29 digs.
  • A Graf kill plus a CMSV attacking error lifted St. Mary's to the first set victory. Graf was solid on the defensive front in the first game with 10 of her 29 digs.
  • After sophomore outside hitter Meghan Kelley (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) knotted the second set at 21-21, the Dolphins avoided the shutout by closing out the game with a 4-1 push for the win.
  • St. Mary's broke an 8-8 draw in the third set with a 6-2 run and then held on for the 25-22 win and a 2-1 lead.
  • Following a 6-5 deficit, the Seahawks battled back and built a 19-10 advantage before pulling away for the 25-17 set win and match victory.

For The Seahawks (11-4)

  • Kelley (14 kills, career-bests of 9 digs and 2 solo blocks, 2 service aces); Graf (career-high 29 digs, 11 kills, 2 assists, 2 block assists); Mia Griffiths (36 assists, career-bests of 16 digs and 3 kills, 2 service aces); Meghan Griffiths (13 digs, career-high 9 kills); Marissa Dangler (13 digs, career-best 3 assists); Carissa Hill (10 digs).
  • St. Mary's hit .160 for the match with six service aces and 6.0 team blocks.

For Mount Saint Vincent (3-8)

  • Tara Maloney (24 kills, 14 digs); Nicole Henderson (40 assists, 11 digs); Patsy Sewell (10 digs, 6 kills, 4 assists, 2 service aces); Kristine Javier (20 digs); Chrissy Sewell (28 digs, 2 service aces).
  • The Dolphins attacked at a .082 clip with five service aces and 4.0 team blocks.

  • The Seahawks are riding a four-match win streak.
