GILBERT, Ariz. - Three Seahawks were named 2019 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced today (Mar. 25). Kelly Emge, Maggie Howels, and Rachel Lansbury represented the St. Mary's College of Maryland field hockey team on the list.
This year, 321 student-athletes have been recognized as Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction. The Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year.
The Seahawks and Salisbury led the Capital Athletic Conference with three honorees each. Southern Virginia had two student-athletes recognized, while Mary Washington and York had one each. Sophomore forward Lansbury earned the honor for the second consecutive season.

The NFHCA has already announced the 2019 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award and the 2019 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad — the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Scholar-Athlete will be announced on April 2.
