NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team (7-13, 2-3 CAC) traveled to Christopher Newport University to take on the Captains (16-4, 5-0 CAC) on Wednesday (Jan. 29) evening in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Seahawks stumbled against the Captains, falling by a final score of 93-58.

How It Happened
Layups from Jack Foley and Reggie Rouse gave the Seahawks a fast start and a 4-0 lead in the first 30 seconds of action. The Captains battled back and tied the game at 15 at the 12:46 mark of the first half. Shortly after, Christopher Newport grabbed the lead and never gave it back for the remainder of the contest.
St. Mary's College continued to dig themselves a hole in the first half and headed into the locker rooms trailing 46-27.
The second half was once again controlled by the Captains as they outscored the Seahawks 35-19. St. Mary's College tallied 12 of their 19 points in the paint and failed to hit a three-pointer in the second half. Christopher Newport continued to grow their lead and eventually recorded the 93-58 victory.
Inside the Box Score
Gary Grant led the Seahawks with 18 points on the night. Dee Barnes was the other Seahawk to reach double-digits in scoring with 11. Foley led the Seahawks on the glass with 12 rebounds. In addition, Foley collected two steals and a team-high two blocks. Rouse dished out a team-best three assists.
Jason Aigner led the Captains with 21 points on the night.
