Leo Boucher represented St. Mary’s College of Maryland sailing this weekend (Nov. 9-10) at the LaserPerformance Men’s Singlehanded Nationals hosted by UC Santa Barbara. Boucher returned to campus as a National Champion by taking first place in the regatta.
St. Mary’s College of Maryland sailing team faced tough competition this weekend (Oct. 26-27) in the War Memorial Regatta and the MAISA Women’s Fall Dinghy Championship. The Seahawks placed first in the War Memorial Regatta and eighth in the MAISA Women’s Fall Dinghy Championship.
The St. Mary’s College sailing team competed in two different regattas this weekend, both on the road. The Seahawks were represented at the Coed Showcase Finals and the Caboose Cup Classic, also known as the Hoya Invitational.
The St. Mary’s College sailing team was busy this weekend with competitions in Norfolk, Va and here in St. Mary’s City. The team had sailors competing in the Oyster Bowl and the Women’s Showcase B Finals.
The Seahawks took home second place in the Danmark Trophy and 12th place in the first round of the Women’s Showcase this weekend (Sept. 28-29). A strong breeze on both Saturday and Sunday made for a challenging day of sailing on the Thames River.
The St. Mary’s College of Maryland varsity coed sailing team is currently looking for enthusiastic athletes to join; no sailing experience necessary! However, a positive attitude, readiness to learn, competitive spirit, and athletic nature are desired. The Seahawks compete in both the fall and spring seasons. An interest meeting will be held on Sunday, Sept. 1 at noon at the waterfront.
