Seahawks Fall to Blue Jays in Non-Conference Action

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - St. Mary's College of Maryland women's soccer (2-5) fell this afternoon in non-conference play against Elizabethtown College (4-1-1). This is the first of four games on the road for the Seahawks.

How It Happened

  • The Seahawks faced some tough competition this evening against the Blue Jays. The first goal of the evening was scored by Elizabethtown during the 17th minute of play. 

  • The second and third goals were scored in the 48th and 50th minute of the match by the Blue Jays. The St. Mary's College defense faced an immense amount of shots but was able to hold composure. Emma Schroeder, Megan Tazza, and Ashley Yurich were the Seahawks' attacking threats this afternoon, each with one shot apiece. 

  • Goalkeeper, Audra Haines, and the Seahawks defense faced a total of 29 shots. Haines completed the match with nine total saves, compared to the Blue Jays' total of one save. Defensively, Maddie Schwarz, Ines Garofolo, and Lauren Baker showed great intensity while trying to keep the ball on the Seahawks' offensive end.

  • After today's game, Tazza has six shots this season so far, while Yurich and Schroeder now total four each. 

  • At the conclusion of this game, Haines now has a total of 31 saves on this season thus far and a save percentage of 0.705.
